Doctor Appointment Cancelled, But We Went Anyway

Booker and Bodey were supposed to have their 2 year and 6 month checkups this morning, but Dr. Yu was sick, so their appointment was cancelled. I was so bummed because I have lots of questions and I wanted to see how much they have grown since their last visit. Well, we ended up going to the doctor anyway, except it was in the form of Urgent Care. This evening Bodey had a fever of 102 and he's been coughing and pulling on his ear. So, I decided I would go ahead and take him in tonight instead of trying to get in in the morning. I'm glad I did, the poor little guy has croup. The doctor said he was glad I brought him in tonight because he was wheezing so bad. They checked his oxygen level after they gave him a breathing treatment and it was better, but still not great. He was given a prescription for a steriod and I'm monitoring his breathing throughout the night. I just went in and he still feels really warm, but his breathing seemed fine. He is such a trooper though; the nurse said he's the happiest kid she's seen all day. He was just smiling at everyone he saw. So even though I didn't want to go to see the "sick" doctor today, I still found out that Bodey is a whopping 20 pounds! Gotta love it!

Bye-Bye Baby Cage... Hello Big Boy Bed!

For those of you who don't know, Booker used to sleep in a cage. We decided that we didn't want to buy another crib when Bodey was born, so Booker was going to learn to like a big boy bed. Well, it just so happened that when we decided to move Booker to his new bed, I was 8 months pregnant and Dusty was working nights. Not a good combination! Booker figured out all too fast that he could get out whenever he wanted and as many times as he wanted. After I counted 26 times in about a half an hour that Booker had escaped, I threw in the towel. I called Dusty crying and told him he is going back to the crib. Dusty told me not to worry, he would build something around Booker's bed so that he couldn't escape and so he would feel secure like he did in his crib. That's what we like to refer to as "the cage." It was WONDERFUL! He could no longer escape, and he loved it! Well, a couple of weeks ago we decided that Booker was ready to be unleashed and we took off the cage. Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of the cage on the bed. He loves his big boy bed and has been doing great. He never gets out when we put him to bed. The only thing that I am struggling with is that now he thinks it is time to party at 6am and there is no getting that boy to fall back to sleep. Oh well, I guess I have to choose my battles.

Our favorite 4-word sentence....

Booker is starting to talk more and more each day. Granted, most of the time it's in his own language, but that counts too! Tonight we took a road trip to Noland Road in Independence for Dusty to grab a tool at his work's shop. The boys and I waited in the car. As soon as Dusty got out, all Booker would say is, "I want my dad. I want my daddy," over and over again until Dusty returned. Sure, I'm glad he's finally forming sentences, but I seriously doubt that if I would have left the car he would have been begging for me. He's been a real daddy's boy lately. It's cute, but sometimes I wish it was the other way around. Now Bodey, on the other hand, is kind of partial to me. Actually, I think I'm just saying that to make myself feel better. Bodey actually loves anyone who looks at him, and especially those who talk to him. He is just the happiest little guy around. He truly only cries if he's really hungry, or if Booker tackles him. Dusty shocked me tonight when he said, "you know, if you had a colicky baby and could just give them away for the first couple of months, it would be great. Bodey is the happiest baby ever." Yep, Dusty said that.
